The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
