Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
