The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Over Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Service Background

The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
