Thousands Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems

Nearly 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the region, generating wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Destruction

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Rescue organizations responded to 598 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

During the peak on Sunday, over 28k energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity expected across different parts of both regions.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
